Allana's City Adventures

Meet Allana - she's smart, funny and loves our city.  She has offered for the summer to document her adventures to give visitors an insider's view of Kingston.  Throughout the summer, a new video will be posted each week.

Getting to Know Allana

Hey….my name is Allana and I'm a Kingstonian.

I don't live in a sprawling subdivision but I do live in a hundred year old limestone building

I don't require a complicated  'tube' a 'train' or a 'subway' station to get to work but can walk there on my own two feet

I can choose to eat locally grown and homemade food and don't have to starve on a 100 mile diet

I am not just another face in the crowd of a million

And I do know Mike, Brad, Will and Mel from Kingston and they are really, really nice people

I am in the smartest city in all of Canada

I am in the home of Queen's University, Royal Military College, and St Lawrence College

And I do have options

The home to two world heritage sites

I share a city with world famous artists such as the Tragically Hip, Bedouin Soundclash, Sarah Harmer, and Bryan Adams

In festivals and not boredome

I believe in accessibility and not gridlock

Kingston is Canada's first capital, the birthplace of hockey and the best place to get uncovered

I am Allana and I am a Kingstonian!

More About Allana

Let myself introduce…myself….I'm Allana and lucky enough to be starting out on a summer adventure to rival all summer adventures! I am working my way through a list of "101 Things to do in Kingston" all the while documenting my trials and tribulations for you..yes YOU!

I'm just finishing up (fingers crossed) my Master's degree in Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen's University and didn't have a sweet clue of what to do next  - quick visit to the career counselling center ended with a suggestion of selling bananas on a beach in South America.  Figuring Mom and Dad wouldn't love the idea of a banana hut, I decided that I may as well use my 'time to think' in a productive fashion and do a little local exploring!

This whole idea came about when I realized that my days in the amazing little town were limited and I wanted to pack in as much hilarity as possible…that and  like lists…like I really like to make lists (comes from my mom…).  I sent out a trusty Facebook message to all those in my 'Kingston network' and got a joking reply that I should 'blog' about all the things I manage to cross off my list.  But then I realized that a blog about adventures in Kingston was a GENIUS idea! A place where other 'young Kingstonians' can go to find fun things to do around town! A place that you can visit to help you plan your own adventures around town!

I hope to capture the essence of what makes Kingston an amazing and unique place for young people to explore, experiment, and make the most of their 'pre-working' days!  While checking off items from my list it will hopefully give me (and maybe you!) some clarity on the where I plan to head next…since you never know where the next opportunity may lie!

So please, read, laugh, explore and let me know your ideas on what to do in Kingston!
